Quit Playing Games Released 19 Years Ago in Europe

19 years ago today Backstreet Boys released Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) over in Europe. This was the second song they had recorded with Max Martin. It was done the same week they recorded We’ve Got It Goin’ On. The song was originally recorded with Brian singing both verses and then in September of 1996 it was re-recorded with Nick singing the second verse. This was the version that was released as a single. The song managed to reach #1 in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and on the European Hot 100 chart. The song sold over 500,000 copies in Germany which was then certified platinum! In other European countries it reached #5 and #8 on two different Belgium charts, #7 in the Netherlands, #10 in Ireland and Norway, #15 in Sweden. While in the UK it charted at #2 selling over 200,000 copies.
